What producers say
Thanks so much, Jex! Your comments really mean a lot and are a huge encouragement to keep working on my music! You're right, the kick is definitely a bit of a problem. As for the bass, I tried doubling it, but with the TB it just gets way too low and muddy. I found a solution by adding a sub underneath to bring more punch to the low frequencies, and I sidechained the whole thing with a slightly shorter kick that sits a little lower in the mix. I'm sending you the updated version as requested! Really appreciate you taking the time to listen !

Thank you so much! Super helpful as always, great ideas to implement :)
Thank you so much for the insightful feedback. It's very encouraging for me to keep trying and experimenting, especially with the bass. The Inspect plugin from DSP Dealer is definitely a game changer for me. And I will definitely try recording the vocals again. Thanks again for your encouraging words.
Fun, motivating, and right on point :) I can't wait to try it out. Thanks Jex!
Incredibly detailed and helpful, especially as I'm just a few months into my production journey. Learned a lot in this session and hope to share more tracks in the future!
Woah, thanks Jex! This feedback really means a lot. I would more than gladly accept your proposal, I'm managing to finish tracks a bit faster now. Will let you know as soon as I have something :) I think the main vocal part is pretty catchy, I like how it's rhythmically delivered. So I would maybe replace it with a midi pattern (eg. with the synth stab) or something similar. I'll try it out !
This feedback is incredibly helpful, really appreciate the detail you put into it! Thank youuuuu :)
Thanks Polygonia for the very thoughtful feedback - it gives me some specific ways to go forward as well we some very interesting broader perspective on music making. I really appreciate it!
-
Thank for the amazingly detailed feedback. Solid actionable advice that I look forward implementing and sharing a more final version.
wow! Thank you so much for the super quick feedback,I wasn't expecting a response til at least after ADE - I very appreciate it very much. Great notes, will tighten up the groove on the first half of the track and tame the bass. I will look into the pads as well! I agree with your general feelings. Tenzia is awesome, so i appreciate that. He is super talented. I guess my closest inspiration would be Loek Frey. I will come back with a new version soon! All the best Morgan

Thanks Jexy, You are indeed my Canadian goggles wearing connection.....and I'm loving every second of it Jerry
Enormous thanks for such a quick response! Now I definitely won't miss my deadline 😁 Again, the suggestions are so precise and relevant! Appreciate that you express your ideas so clearly!
Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm really glad you enjoyed the track and the improvements I've made in mixing and mastering. I'll definetly look into boosting the high frequencies for this track and my other tracks. It's likely that the issue persists throughout the album. I'll send you the full album soon!! Thanks again:)
-
Yoooo. Thank you Jexy - really helpful advice and stoked you think its half okay. Ill be sending the updated version soon. Peace, Xandy

Jex Opolis' feedback was both technically informed and emotionally perceptive, identifying specific strengths while also offering constructive notes on areas for growth— highly recommend.

Great feedback
Wow, this one was the most helpful and detailed feedback so far :) Thanks so much! It's definitely constructive and helpful. I already started to think about making some changes to the song.
haha you're the man Jex - congrats on the new arrival - so cute! Im sure you have your hands full now proper!! I'm sure you will return to the touring at some stage buddy! I have 2 little ones myself - so im only able to get to the studio during working hours believe it or not haha!! Legend for the feedback - I used Rob Papen Blue 111 vst for this bass - its a beauty of a synth for all types of bass and those kind of float arpy sounds, be right up your street!! I will definitely send over more tracks buddy - cos i only get to produce while i work i dont turnaround many tracks in quicky but when I do Il share :) would be epic to release something with you again at some stage! I am a resident in belfast thompsons garage so hopefully will get dropping some of these beauties over the summer!! will keep in touch man - good luck with the dipers :)
Heya thanks so much this was super helpful, I have implemented your suggestions and am much more pleased with where the track is now. Thanks again : )

Thank you Jex! Really appreciate your feedback! This track is the first that I’m working on for my new ep (my debut ep is coming out in two weeks on vinyl!, I’ll send it to you), so happy that you like it and consider it done! Loved the feedback on the sound as I actually don’t want to make it sound very modern, I like the nostalgia of older sounds I guess Anyway, thank you!
-
Thanks for the generous and inspiring feedback! Great suggestions for the mix and receiving encouragement from Dr Proper is priceless!
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback Hi Polygonia, Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my track and for giving such detailed and helpful feedback. Thanks for your encouragement and thoughtful critique. It’s helped me see the track from a new perspective and has definitely given me motivation to keep improving. Looking forward to sharing more music in the future! KIYOKO

Thank you for the very supportive, specific and helpful feedback. Great ideas in terms of musical approach as well as clear advice on how to move forward with finding audience. Answered questions that I wasnt even sure how to ask!! I really appreciate it!!!
Precise technical Analysis when i requested philosophy! Recommend!
Cheers Jex!

Helpful, and actionable. Will give it a try, thanks a lot!
-
Jex is a very nice, authentic and honest guy! Thanks for your tips and ideas and your very positive feedback on my track! :)
-
Thank you very much! Totally agree with your suggestions!
-
Thank you for the deep review! Very helpful and insightful - as usual! :)
-
Hi Jex, thanks for your kind feedback, it's very uplifting and gives me some good advice!
Hey Lindsey, best wishes for you :) Thanks again for listening and taking time. Very happy with the feedback you're giving, detailed, constructive and respectful. I will definitely take this knowledge into my future productions, vary valuable. Cheers, Rico
- q
Very helpful feedback. Thanks a lot!!
I'm so sorry I forgot to leave feedback until now! Thank you SO much. The mixing advice was so specific and spot on to help get this to a finished state I'm really happy with. The kind words were also helpful motivation for me to call it "done" and move on. Thanks again for the sincere engagement and feedback.
-
Lindsey gave constructive feedback on my track, very well explained. Thank you :) Will definitely try to get new feedback on other tracks in the future and also recommend her expertise to others.
- W
Thank you so much for this amazing and precise feedback on both technical and creative aspects ! I really had to know and hear what should be improved in my production and this was on point ! I can now see where to improve on the mixdown, but also on how to make a track more interesting by adding more movement and improve the sound design. Polygonia, you’re the best :)
-
Great review and suggestions! I feel that my ears are getting more and more trained every time I receive your feedback :) Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
- s
Thank you so much for the feedback! Only just listening to it now as I've had a hiatus away from the gym. I totally get what you mean after reflecting on the track and will be adding additional layers into it as suggested. That could help to elevate the track as it is meant to be a club night track. Thanks again and I will resubmit in the future :)
- g
Wow, thank you so much for the feedback! I did not expect that you would appreciate the track so much. To be honest I did not think too much about the kick change, I was just guided by the flow of the track when making arrangement decisions. But it's also good to think about the structure of a track in the context of a DJ set, so thanks for the insight. Your feedback gives me motivation to continue creating more music, and maybe one day you will play my music in one of your sets :)
Thank you so much for your feedback Polygonia, it's super constructive, and you're encouraging me to find my own voice! Motivation is back on :)
-
Huge thanks for the detailed review! Your suggestions are totally on point! From now on, I'll definitely be braver with low-cutting my kick :)
-
Thank you so much for your feedback! It was thorough and informative, and I really appreciate it. I’ve heard of loudness meters before, but I’ve never actually used one during mixing. I should definitely start using one to get a better grasp of my track levels. Thanks for pointing that out. I still want the toms to be the focal point of the mix, but you're right—they’re way too loud as they are right now. Also, you were spot-on about the outro. I’ve noticed I tend to get lazy towards the end of my tracks, but you're the first person to mention it. I’ll work on staying focused from start to finish next time. Thanks again for all the valuable insights!
- Y
Thanks Jex, really appreciate you taking the time to listen to the track and give some honest feedback. I've still got a long way to go! but this is all super clear and thanks again, going to give it another go :)
- N
Thank you so much for the precise and detailed feedback, it was super helpful ! I really appreciated the demonstration with the spectrum analyzer aswell.
Amazing. Very productive feedback that resulted in a finished track!!
- r
Thank you so much for the feedback and for addressing my questions so directly! I have a much clearer vision of my future as an artist, and I'm very grateful that you always find the time amidst your touring schedule to give such detailed notes.
Thanks Jexxy, I appreciate your feedback 🙏🏻
This is really stellar feedback, thanks so much, Polygonia. Lots of food for thought here in terms of filling out the arrangement and adding movement in the synths - can’t wait to get going with this! I really appreciate the useful mixing advice too, which I haven’t heard about before. All in all, a refreshing and concise set of tips that has me inspired to dive into the finishing touches. Looking forward to sending you the next version :))) (Sorry for taking a while to get back to you, it’s been a hectic end to the summer...)
- r
Great combination of technical feedback and open-ended ideas that I could implement and still maintain my own creative voice. Thank you!
- f
Thx Jexy, you're the man!
Hello Jex, First of all, thank you so much for paying attention to details of the tracks, and glad that part of my "purpose" has been kind of reached ahah Well noted regarding all that is relative to bass line, bass effects etc. that is very something I need to improve as it may be something often avoided by beginners ; I will work on it very soon So again, thanks for your time, I follow you on IG and I know you are pretty busy doing great sets. Keep doing masterclass and have a great summer! Why G
Thanks Jex, I'm glad you enjoy it as you're a major influence. Watched you in Syd a few weeks ago too - ICONIC. The soft synth sound is created by putting a randomiser (tremolo plugin) on a DX7 emulator soft synth preset & then chorus, flange, delay ect on top! When we get our Soundcloud/Bandcamp up & running I'll send you some of my other demos. All quite similar to 'Alice Coltrane". Would be really cool to be considered for the Echio pick of the month too. Keep in touch, Yanni :)
Thanks for the feedback mate appreciate it I’ll Defo get a nice bass line in there! Ill send you the updated version soon 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Incredibly helpful feedback. Thanks so much, Jex - you gave me some tremendously helpful insights and notes that I hadn’t really considered about this track, the drop, and the creative side. And awesome to hear you thought the mix sounded good. :) Sincerely appreciated, and excited to get back to the studio!!! 🎶 Thanks again 🎶
-
Love you Jex! Great feedback as ever! thanks for the advice on new artists to check out and Labels to send it to. Totally fine on the vox tip too -as you say, its a taste thing. Your insight is always on point. Biggups Mr Balearic x
-
Appreciate it Jex thanks so much
-
Hey Jex - what a fucking legend stoked you liked my tracks sir and cheers for the epic feedback, I have made some updates on your recommendations with an 808 clap, a break topper and a glitchy layer. Also added some sie Q on the drum bus and some pultec across some of the percussion to hopefully give it that sizzle as you say! - hopefully this is a step closer to becoming a grade A banger. can you give me 30% discount again to resend you what I have update?
Thanks a lot Jex, very constructive feedback. I will actually leave this as an "experimental version" and work on a shorter version for the dancefloor and will look for the baseline :) Speak soon
- d
Yo Jexy✌️❤️ Thanks for your video feedback and the good words on my track🙏🏻 I'm a fan of your music for quite a while now! I have to be honest i actually heard about your (very cool!) masterclass on Echio from one of my students and i figured, since this platform is so sweet for reaching out to your favorite artists, i might try contacting you via echio🤷♂️ So that's me being honest. This track is "DJ Gear - Goes Love" is looking for a home alongside 2 more dreamy housey tracks. If you'll feel like playing it and even share it with others i can maybe find a decent label to release it❤️🙏🏻 Thanks again for being such a nice and honest dude
-
Hi Jex, thank you for your very kind feedback. It's overwhelming to hear such positive words from the producer I've been following for years! About Bitwig: it's a DAW made by former Ableton programmers. It's much more stable, there's no latency, it's a module and sound design heaven and much more... I'm not going back. :) if you want to hear more about it, feel free to hit me up on IG (micsadowski). Either way, thanks for your time!
- a
Great feedback, very helpful. And thank you for the recs on stuff to listen to, will dig in!
- c
Great follow up feedback.
- c
Excellent, concise and extremely helpful feedback. Jex answered all questions and applied his deep understanding of music to help improve the track that was sent.
Top pour ton retour! Je vois complètement ce que tu veux dire, je t’envoie autre chose bientôt! Merci!
-
Glad i sent the track though again for some final feedback from you Jex... it's given me the confidence to now move forwards and shop it around to labels -or release it myself on Bandcamp. I spotted that Echio are now doing compilations which is such a great idea. I'd be really interested in featuring the track on the next comp if You/Echio would like it? Much love as ever man keep tearing up the dancefloors!
Thank you so much! I'll do my best on these chords...
- s
thank you so much for the feedback and criticism of my track. I think it's a good idea to add some automation to the drums, fade up and down subtly to create a less monotonous feeling. not sure about fills, might be difficult to implement aesthetically, but dynamics (not often, just one or two times) from other elements that are already there might be nice. otherwise I'll just say it's done! many thanks and greetings from Reykjavík, Iceland!
- s
thank you so much for the feedback and your advice. I will do some experiments with different patterns and muting the shaker. adding a layer with more mid freq sounds is a good idea. it will take some time to reach an interesting outcome, but with some patience I'm sure I'll get there! analysing your patterns and see if I can incorporate some ideas into my track would be a good learning experience. this is very helpful, much better than sending a track to someone that just says "sounds good!" haha. thank you and have a great weekend!
- r
Polygonia gave amazing feedback on my track! She addressed all my questions and thoroughly explained any recommended changes with context. She even utilized a spectrum analyzer and commented on how she viewed my track using this tool. Finally, she gave some further ideas for filling out the frequencies and ideas to develop regarding specific elements. Very helpful for my musical journey and I learned so much!!
Thanks a lot for your feedback, Jex!! Great input, sometime I miss the small details that help the track stand out and will definetly apply your feedback. I was a little afraid to use a small chords progression during the track, so I can keep it dance floor oriented, but yes, I I will figure it out, play a little with some chords there. Thanks for the proggy percussive arpegiator advice! ❤️The sample is from Splice, I tried to find a nice female voice. Have a nice day! ☀️
-
Absolutely on the money man... a chorus is exactly what it needs, one of my friends is a backup singer with Technotronic so i'll get in touch with her to smash out that hip-hose-diva style vocal addition ...altho i was sorely tempted to pop yours in there ! :) i'll get a shorter snappier version boxed off asap and send it through. Loved hearing from you man ...and your feedback was just what i needed, it made me feel confident and positive about the track -i'm ready to kick its ass into orbit now! Much love! Dash
Hello and thank you so much for all the helpful feedback! I am going to implement your recommendations: more dynamics and ‘surprise’ in the arrangement will definitely improve the song. Thank you!
- s
super super helpful and specific feedback thank you!! I will definitely get on the spectrometer train :))
-
Thank you for the extensive and constructive feedback! As always, it opens up new perspectives on problematic points that I couldn't see by myself and motivates me to put more work into my production, thanks <3
- r
Thanks your helpful and actionable feedback. Especially the idea to drop the piano was really good. I'll be adding some dirt to my track and be back for the next track ;-)
- z
Thanks for the helpful feedback! very insightful and constructive. also quite quick to reply :)
- d
Hey jex, haha okay. didn't expect such good feedback. Thank you! I'm very happy to hear that. :) Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to play the track in a club yet. I'll definitely send it to you when I release it on my bandcamp page. A lot of the sounds are samples like the stabs, which are pitched down reggae chords. And the organ sound is from the Arturia SQ80 vst . I would like to have the original synth, but it's too expensive for me... But this will definitely become one of my favorite synths :)
HI Polygonia, Thanks a lot for the feedback, helped me a lot! Although not sure yet how I can fix it but I'm gonna get some help to do it 8) May I ask what was the name of the program where u showed me the volume of the samples in the track? I use Reason for producing music, and for example my kick has nothing on it, just a distortion, and can't figure out why my tracks are sounding like they are in a box. However I am going to use Ableton with the new tracks and try to get the best out from the ones I made in Reason. Thanks a lot again 8)
- C
Awesome, that was extremely helpful. I will definitely experiment with making the atmosphere louder and toning down the rim shot. My idea for it being so loud was that many elements were washed out, so I wanted it to be in the center for contrast together with the kick and open hat. The idea of having a hierarchy will definitely stick with me in my future productions. Regarding the chords not being so audible after the drop my chain of thought was after having this long ambienty dreamy first part I wanted the drop to just hit with some dry drums to awaken the listener, so the synths are very slowly filtering in, but I might have pushed it a bit too hard. Anyways, your feedback was very, very helpful and helped me comprehend a few things. Have a lovely week
Hey Polygonia, thanks for the feedback. Is really assuring with your comments :) I also felt that i left Pads a bit behind. I need to carefully balance them back with EQ at beginning (without over saturating mix later). Thanks again for support :) Cheers M
Thanks a lot for the feedback, some very specific points. Very respectful and pleasant! Hope to see you play again! :-)
-
Hello Polygonia, thank you very much for very constructive feedback. It kind of really hit the point that proper Low part of track was not there. Listening on proper speakers i also realised i had put unhealthy amount of compression on kick and bass with long release times that caused weird distorsion and whole low end was quite "kuddelmuddel" .. Following your advice i resynthesized kick+sub and bass did some EQ and layering and i think track sound more (how it sounded in my head) :) Thank again for super clear feedback !
Thank you very much, Polygonia! I really appreciated your responsiveness and the depth with which you analyzed my track. Your comments regarding its structure encourage me to continue to pay particular attention to musical nuances and dynamics in techno music. And your enlightening words about mixing synth sounds with "real-world instruments" exactly capture one of my main musical aspirations. Have a nice Sunday!
Thank you very much for the feedback, Polygonia! I have just fixed the hi-hats. For the other suggestions there are a couple of different approaches which come to my mind. Gonna try them both- it's gonna be a steep learning curve! Thanks heaps! :)
Ayyyyy. Thank you for your feedback again!! Hopefully this final one checks all the boxes! Pushed and pulled on the db's for balance and emphasis points. Appreciate you, so hyped you like the track! Excited to see what happsns >^_^<
Thank you so much for the feedback. It has been really helpful. I missed some important mixing key points in the track and you just opened my eyes on that and other important things to consider in production.
Hello Polygonia! Thank you so much for your honest and thoughtful feedback. Your perspective has helped me consider areas of my production that I overlooked. Your notes are actionable and I will carry them with me for my future projects. I am deeply grateful for your critical listening and insight. I created a new version and have re-uploaded in case you would like to hear. My very best, Luis
- H
Dear Polygonia! This is a super detailed and valuable feedback. It helps me a lot. Thank you very very much! Thanks also for a VST recommendation.
Hey Polygonia, thank you for the good feedback! i had quite some stressy university finishing weeks so it took me a while to get back to you. sorry about that! I will try to change what you suggested in the next days :) Just to let you know: the track got signed and will come out on vinyl with 3 more club oriented tracks of mine. So i am glad to have your feedback to finish the project :-) I will send you the outcome! All the best, Milès
-
Hi, hope you're feeling better these days. Congratulations on the new EP release as well, it is BANGIN, can't wait to rinse a couple of them out this weekend at this fest in the Mojave desert!! You're consistently stellar, keep it up!!!! I lowered the db on that conga pattern, resampled with transient variation and added some modulation. Generally that pattern is a lot less present in the mix now. Thank you again for the listens, the advice, and the nice words <3 I hope you got a lot of good submissions for this Echio Academy session and that it was an enjoyable experience for you! It has been for me!!
-
Hey!! Thank you so much for your fast response! I'm glad you approve of my edits and thank you for pointing out the counting issue, I'll try to do something about it! Maybe I'll just record myself counting, haha. Have a nice weekend!
-
Thank you very much for the detailed feedback, Polygonia! It really changed my perception of the track so it is invaluable to me. I will get on with fixing the mix right away. Thank you!
Thanks so much! Really helpful advice on the mix and the arrangement especially. Very practical and useful so will be actioning these points in this track and future pieces.
I’ll see what I can do about those tonal issues, thank you for the thorough feedback!
-
Thank you for the feedback, very helpful and understanding! Will make a few changes and let you know the result :)
thank you so much for the detailed feedback! It has helped me with my thought process with this track a lot. I will get in the studio and work on this some more and will send through an updated version asap!
-
Thank you so much for your incredible feedback! Looking forward to integrating your insights into my general creative process moving forward. Really appreciate the time you took to answer my question and your thoughtful suggestions of how to make my track sing properly =] Will be making the necessary adjustments and sending an updated version soon!
Amazing feedback. Very insightful and precise. All of it is clear enough to work on right away. Thank you 🌵

Frequently asked questions
Music feedback
-
The artist records a private video breaking down your track — mix, arrangement, sound design, or whatever you ask them to focus on. It lands in your inbox and you can watch it whenever you want, as many times as you like.
-
Early sketches are often the most valuable to get feedback on, before you get lost in too many iterations — but finished tracks work too if you want a second opinion or to get on the artist’s radar.
-
MP3, WAV or AIF, any length. Add a note and links when you upload so the artist knows exactly what to focus on.
-
Most feedback arrives within a few days. If the artist hasn’t responded within 7 days, you’re automatically refunded.
-
You can swap the track as long as the artist hasn’t listened yet. After that you can cancel the request for a refund and start a new one.
-
Yes. Once your feedback is delivered, you’ll find a private message option on your request page. Use it to ask the artist a follow-up question or get clarification on something they mentioned in the video.
