Woah, thanks Jex! This feedback really means a lot. I would more than gladly accept your proposal, I'm managing to finish tracks a bit faster now. Will let you know as soon as I have something :) I think the main vocal part is pretty catchy, I like how it's rhythmically delivered. So I would maybe replace it with a midi pattern (eg. with the synth stab) or something similar. I'll try it out !

haha you're the man Jex - congrats on the new arrival - so cute! Im sure you have your hands full now proper!! I'm sure you will return to the touring at some stage buddy! I have 2 little ones myself - so im only able to get to the studio during working hours believe it or not haha!! Legend for the feedback - I used Rob Papen Blue 111 vst for this bass - its a beauty of a synth for all types of bass and those kind of float arpy sounds, be right up your street!! I will definitely send over more tracks buddy - cos i only get to produce while i work i dont turnaround many tracks in quicky but when I do Il share :) would be epic to release something with you again at some stage! Wow, thank you so much for the feedback! I did not expect that you would appreciate the track so much. To be honest I did not think too much about the kick change, I was just guided by the flow of the track when making arrangement decisions. But it's also good to think about the structure of a track in the context of a DJ set, so thanks for the insight. Your feedback gives me motivation to continue creating more music, and maybe one day you will play my music in one of your sets :)

Thank you so much for your feedback! It was thorough and informative, and I really appreciate it. I’ve heard of loudness meters before, but I’ve never actually used one during mixing. I should definitely start using one to get a better grasp of my track levels. Thanks for pointing that out. I still want the toms to be the focal point of the mix, but you're right—they’re way too loud as they are right now. Also, you were spot-on about the outro. I’ve noticed I tend to get lazy towards the end of my tracks, but you're the first person to mention it. I’ll work on staying focused from start to finish next time. Thanks Jex, I'm glad you enjoy it as you're a major influence. Watched you in Syd a few weeks ago too - ICONIC. The soft synth sound is created by putting a randomiser (tremolo plugin) on a DX7 emulator soft synth preset & then chorus, flange, delay ect on top! When we get our Soundcloud/Bandcamp up & running I'll send you some of my other demos. All quite similar to 'Alice Coltrane". Would be really cool to be considered for the Echio pick of the month too. Keep in touch, Yanni :)

Hey Jex - what a fucking legend stoked you liked my tracks sir and cheers for the epic feedback, I have made some updates on your recommendations with an 808 clap, a break topper and a glitchy layer. Also added some sie Q on the drum bus and some pultec across some of the percussion to hopefully give it that sizzle as you say! - hopefully this is a step closer to becoming a grade A banger. can you give me 30% discount again to resend you what I have update?

Glad i sent the track though again for some final feedback from you Jex... it's given me the confidence to now move forwards and shop it around to labels -or release it myself on Bandcamp. I spotted that Echio are now doing compilations which is such a great idea. I'd be really interested in featuring the track on the next comp if You/Echio would like it? I think it's a good idea to add some automation to the drums, fade up and down subtly to create a less monotonous feeling. not sure about fills, might be difficult to implement aesthetically, but dynamics (not often, just one or two times) from other elements that are already there might be nice. otherwise I'll just say it's done! many thanks and greetings from Reykjavík, Iceland!

I will do some experiments with different patterns and muting the shaker. adding a layer with more mid freq sounds is a good idea. it will take some time to reach an interesting outcome, but with some patience I'm sure I'll get there! analysing your patterns and see if I can incorporate some ideas into my track would be a good learning experience. this is very helpful, much better than sending a track to someone that just says "sounds good!" haha. thank you and have a great weekend!

Polygonia gave amazing feedback on my track! She addressed all my questions and thoroughly explained any recommended changes with context. She even utilized a spectrum analyzer and commented on how she viewed my track using this tool. Finally, she gave some further ideas for filling out the frequencies and ideas to develop regarding specific elements. Very helpful for my musical journey and I learned so much!!

Hey jex, haha okay. didn't expect such good feedback. Thank you! I'm very happy to hear that. :) Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to play the track in a club yet. I'll definitely send it to you when I release it on my bandcamp page. A lot of the sounds are samples like the stabs, which are pitched down reggae chords. And the organ sound is from the Arturia SQ80 vst . I would like to have the original synth, but it's too expensive for me... But this will definitely become one of my favorite synths :)

Although not sure yet how I can fix it but I'm gonna get some help to do it 8) May I ask what was the name of the program where u showed me the volume of the samples in the track? I use Reason for producing music, and for example my kick has nothing on it, just a distortion, and can't figure out why my tracks are sounding like they are in a box. However I am going to use Ableton with the new tracks and try to get the best out from the ones I made in Reason. Thanks a lot again 8)

Awesome, that was extremely helpful. I will definitely experiment with making the atmosphere louder and toning down the rim shot. My idea for it being so loud was that many elements were washed out, so I wanted it to be in the center for contrast together with the kick and open hat. The idea of having a hierarchy will definitely stick with me in my future productions. Regarding the chords not being so audible after the drop my chain of thought was after having this long ambienty dreamy first part I wanted the drop to just hit with some dry drums to awaken the listener, so the synths are very slowly filtering in, but I might have pushed it a bit too hard. Anyways, your feedback was very, very helpful and helped me comprehend a few things. Have a lovely week

Hello Polygonia, thank you very much for very constructive feedback. It kind of really hit the point that proper Low part of track was not there. Listening on proper speakers i also realised i had put unhealthy amount of compression on kick and bass with long release times that caused weird distorsion and whole low end was quite "kuddelmuddel" .. Following your advice i resynthesized kick+sub and bass did some EQ and layering and i think track sound more (how it sounded in my head) :) Thank again for super clear feedback !

Hi, hope you're feeling better these days. Congratulations on the new EP release as well, it is BANGIN, can't wait to rinse a couple of them out this weekend at this fest in the Mojave desert!! You're consistently stellar, keep it up!!!! I lowered the db on that conga pattern, resampled with transient variation and added some modulation. Generally that pattern is a lot less present in the mix now. The artist records a private video breaking down your track — mix, arrangement, sound design, or whatever you ask them to focus on. It lands in your inbox and you can watch it whenever you want, as many times as you like.

Early sketches are often the most valuable to get feedback on, before you get lost in too many iterations — but finished tracks work too if you want a second opinion or to get on the artist’s radar.
