Thanks for the feedback. I've not heard that track but just listened and it's a stunner - I love this kind of thing. Now it's working out the jigsaw puzzle. Think I might leave it to cool for a while before I try. Great feedback though, I see what you mean by getting all the pieces to fit the groove. It takes an absolute genius to get it right!

hi Phillip - Thanks for listening! Apologies for the late review - I greatly appreciate your feedback and have taken your your opinions on my track on board. Yes this distortion was intentional however i may of overdone it a little :) Reminder note to self - Never send Efdemin a demo with a overly distorted kick drum. Thanks for your kind words on my structure and the feel of my track and the tip you shared regarding ducking etc - I should of send you my other finished tracks as they have waaay less distortion.

Freut mich, dass dir der Track erstmal gefällt - ich versuche natürlich noch an den Beats zu arbeiten - was ich mitnehmen konnte, dass es "nett" ist, weil es beim Bügeln nicht stört. ;-) Mach mich aber auf jeden Fall noch mal ran und versuche da bissl Spannung reinzubekommen, so dass es nicht mehr nur tuckert - sondern auch etwas fordert. :)

I very much appreciate the advice to try and make instruments sound a bit more abstract (ie. you can't identify which instrument produced the sound but it still feels organic and natural, if I understood correctly). And also the advice to add a little rhythmic pattern to create tension.

Hi Philipp Thanks a lot for your words, some tears went out from the emotion I am super happy, this words from you has no value ,I am just working a lot, I took some time just for me to do what I love and after years I see some result that fix my soul and if it is possible try not be obvious, I love an history in a track and I try to make it the same time danceable and playable ,is my passion and this track I hope can represent it. I am super happy about the result and that you want to play Philipp it’s a dream!! Danke!!
So I applied and worked with that elements, not really easy as you said I found a lot of resonances on the mixing way I had to cut frequencies quite drastically leaving the idea of the track much possible as I can do. I played with the element that you said to appear and disappear and hope that is what you thought and what I thought when I listen you words , and at least I find a solution that maybe can work, I hope so!

Your feedback on the shaker and the approach on how to make it walk on the stereo field, really resonates with me. Will also work on the part towards the end which has that teasing effect because of the more loopy sound, I feel what you mean and your comments inspire me :) Thanks for your helpful advice. Thank you Phillip for this feedback - it so happens the drum elements you highlighted to revisit were the only two elements that were not recorded from hardware as these were samples layered in Ableton afterwards! I welcome both ideas... re-sequencing the snare and swapping out the hi hat for a ride cymbal will likely preserve the floaty vibe which is what I always intended for the track. I think your idea of a melodic bass-line is really great and is something I'll explore when I revisit the track too.... perhaps even introducing the melodic bass-line on the breakdown and for the second half. Great ideas. The track is indeed already mastered but I will revisit for a version 2. Thank you again. I will certainly send more tracks in future if you are available too! Daniel

Dear Gui, many thanks for your feedback. Here my rework after your helpful feedback. I only applied to the mixdown a limitier +9.8 db, so mixdown has some loudness, no mastering done. I had already followed a few of Chris’ tutorials online, and the track I sent was based on those techniques, so I thought it would be great to get his input on what I created. Chris sent an in-depth walk-through of 2 essential elements for me to improve on, that would get the track ready for a large sound system. I was vaguely aware of these things, but having them methodically explained, and understanding their implications on the mix outside of my studio speakers has made me more confident in delivering a better result. I’m already applying these principles to other tracks and can hear the results. Chris’ style is thoughtful and thorough, providing step-by-step examples and comparing to other well-known artists to see how they implement these techniques. Great experience! Thank you.
