Welcome to Studio Favorites, a series where we ask artists to share the tools that inspire their sound and drive their creative process. This time, we’re featuring Yazzus — a Ghana-born, London-raised, and Berlin-based DJ/producer known for her high-energy, attitude-packed techno and trance, blending cosmic futurism with raw rave spirit.
Here are her studio essentials.
The Korg Minilogue XD is an approachable yet powerful polysynth — perfect for hardware newcomers and pros alike. For Yazzus, it’s a gateway into hands-on sound design, bringing a playful, tactile energy into her workflow.
Arturia’s Dist Coldfire is more than just distortion — it’s a sound-shaping powerhouse. With dual distortion engines, intuitive controls, and inspiring presets, it lets Yazzus transform sounds in bold and unexpected ways, adding grit, punch, or complete reinvention.
Pigments has become one of the most versatile and beloved soft synths on the scene, and for Yazzus, it’s an indispensable tool. With its deep modulation options, flexible wavetables, and powerful sequencer, it fuels her evolving, high-energy productions.
DS Audio’s Tantra 2 is a rhythmic multi-effect plugin that excels at turning ordinary sounds into lush, textured atmospheres. From pads to percussion, Yazzus uses it to add trancey, otherworldly vibes and sculpt new sonic dimensions.
