Welcome to Studio Favorites, a series where we ask artists to open up their creative toolkits and share the gear and software they rely on the most. This time, we’re featuring Sascha Funke – a Berlin-based DJ and producer whose sound bridges Tech House, Minimal, Indie Dance, and IDM.

ALM Busy Circuits Squid Salmple

“A very hands-on sampler in eurorack format. It can play up to 8 samples simultaneously and produces a sound reminiscent of the old Akai samplers such as the S950.”

The Squid Salmple is a flexible 8-channel sampler module, ideal for both rhythmic chops and atmospheric textures. Sascha loves it for its intuitive workflow and warm, characterful sound that nods to vintage sampling classics.

Five12 Vector Sequencer

“My favourite sequencer is also a eurorack module. The Vector has a great UI, is very easy to use and can create quite complex and musical sequences in just a few steps.”

The Five12 Vector Sequencer is a powerhouse for generating intricate yet musical patterns with minimal effort. For Sascha, it’s a creative workhorse that keeps his modular setup fluid and inspiring.

Moog Minimoog Voyager

“My first and last Moog. A few key elements in MZ were made with the Voyager. My longest-owned piece of gear.”

The Moog Voyager needs no introduction – it’s a modern classic. For Sascha, it’s not just a synth, but a trusty companion that has shaped some of his most iconic sounds, adding rich analog depth to his productions.

Catch Sascha Funke live on Echio, July 24 at 7PM CET, where he’ll deconstruct his track “MZ” – breaking down the creative process, arrangement, synths, and mixing techniques behind this Turbo Recordings release.

Sascha Funke

Ever since his first exposure to euro-dance pop as a twelve year-old kid, Berlin native Sascha Funke followed the siren call of electronic music, carving out his own spot at the forefront of leading-edge dance music. A seasoned hunter constantly digging for epic melodies, kicking beats or top-tier records to grace both his studio output and DJ sets. He released the highly influential full-length releases „Bravo“ (2003) or „Mango“ (2008). Both went on to become electronic classics in their own right and remain a rather popular choice on international dance floors to this day. After that followed Saschienne, a project he put forth with partner in crime Julienne Dessagne - resulting in 2012’s album „Unknown“. As well he released on Tiga’s label Turbo Recordings the EP “IFA” with the featured hit "MZ". followed in 2017 by the album "Lotos Land”, on Endless Flight. Several EP's for Running Back, Multi Culti, R.A.N.D. Musik, Kompakt and Permanent Vaction.
