A server rack full of Akai

"Getting back into the beige monoliths has been very exciting for me. People may say there is a lot of overlap, but they all do something different and with all these new operating systems floating around lately it’s a very fun time. Just throw something into them and get inspired, weirdness happens."

Dreadbox Nyx V2

"I actually bought this intending to sample it into the Akais for some weird polyphonic stuff, but I had no idea the reverb on it was so weird. Run it through a Proco Rat or whatever other drive you’ve got and have the reverb full wet it just turns into this crazy ultra warbled shoegazey pad machine."

Dreadbox Nostalgia

"Another Dreadbox device in here and a late, but important addition to the album production process. I’ve had the Erebus for ages and this is based off the delay from that. Incredibly crunchy and pleasant sounding. I use a CV out from Bitwig to control the delay time precisely and also stretch it beyond what the onboard control allows. I didn’t realise it ping ponged until I bought it, so that was a nice surprise."

Boss DM-101

"Was wanting one of these for ages and finally got one after I traded some old BBD racks into Turnlab. So incredible to have a true stereo (output) analog delay. So many super interesting modes on this and having midi sync is so handy."

Bitwig Studio + Squarp Hapax

"This is technically two things, but they are the centre of my entire studio. I don’t shut up about Bitwig to people since I made the switch a few years ago, it’s simply the most inspiring thing to happen to my production since probably the beginning of my career. Combined with the incredibly fun and equally inspiring Hapax and my ludicrous amount of inputs, I can get something going and ready to record within minutes."
