About

As a producer and DJ, Om Unit’s persistent presence in an ever-changing musical landscape has solidified his place as a known electronic music innovator. Beginning this project in the late 00’s, the English producer has sought to challenge himself and his audience by going beyond the confines of typical genres and styles. In the process he has found success by striving for a more human approach to connecting styles of electronic music in unique and daring ways. ‌ He has been known to distil and cross-pollinate breaks, techno, downtempo, dubstep, ambient, jungle, footwork, and dub into a fluid take on electronic sound system music that sidesteps the pitfalls of pastiche. He has created new potentials for exploration and inspiration with many following in his footsteps. ‌ It is how, for example, under the recently retired ’Philip D Kick' alias he came to pioneer the stylistic and rhythmic links between jungle and footwork inspiring a global movement of up-tempo bass music that dared to b

I think it was really helpful. I lack a broader context that stretches beyond the spare bedroom I make music in on account of living somewhere without a big scene and this feedback took me a step towards that, which is partly what I was hoping for. Thanks so much for this feedback, this is where you can actually buy the experience of speaking to big producers that you would not normally get. I'm a London based Dubstep producer who used to DJ on Rinse FM in the 90's, so with life as it is time is premium. Speaking to Om Unit, someone who understands the music game, giving tips and references to consider musically as well and who you can goto to launch or generate the profile you want is good as waiting for label feedback is absolute crap. It is about doing something you can be proud of and gaining validation of this.. Big Up Om Unit, big fan of course!!!
