DJ Babatr is a Venezuelan DJ, producer, and cultural innovator recognized as the creator and foremost exponent of Raptor House (also known as changa tuki), a high-energy electronic genre born in the barrios of Caracas in the late 1990s. Emerging from communities such as Catia and Petare, Babatr transformed a grassroots movement into a global club phenomenon, challenging stereotypes and amplifying the voice of Venezuela’s underground scene. Blending Afro-Latin rhythms, eurodance, and tribal techno, his sound captures the raw intensity of Caracas’ minitecas (mobile sound systems), fast, percussive, and relentlessly danceable. After years of shaping the underground, his collaboration “Xtasis” with producer Nick León was named Track of the Year 2022 by Resident Advisor, marking a breakthrough moment for the genre on the international stage.
