Ciel, also known as Cindy Li, is a producer, DJ, pianist, and radio presenter based in Toronto and originally from Xi'an China. Currently she's one of the most prominent exports out of Canada, playing all over Europe, Asia, Australia, North America and in world-class clubs like Berghain Panorama Bar, De School, Robert Johnson, Nowadays, and Fabric London. She's released music on Peach Discs, Naive, Terrafirm, Ghostly International, Studio Barnhus, Mister Saturday Night, !K7, Lucky Me, Planet Euphorique, Jacktone, XKalay, Unknown Untitled, Eris Drew's Ecstatic Editions, and so many more. Ciel is one of the masterminds behind the label Parallel Minds, and is a member of the globally-recognized women and LGBTQIA+ DJ collective, Discwoman. Additionally, she has produced a monthly radio show on Rinse FM in London, UK since 2018.

    Thanks so much for your feedback! I ran out of space to mention it before, but I am 100% untrained in music theory so that is definitely always a hurdle I’m working around. I feel like I usually fall into a similar spot where I can create interesting drum patterns but struggle a lot more making compelling melodies. I think the book you suggested will be a big help so I’m looking forward to keeping this on hand going forward. Thanks again :)
