The Echio Quizz with Tour-Maubourg

How did you learn music and did you have mentors?

So I started my musical journey, I would say by learning guitar, drums and stuff like that in a very classical way with teachers. And then I started making music and actually producing music in 2010 when I moved to Canada because I no longer had bandmates to play with there and started to learn GarageBand and then Reason and Logic and then Ableton when I started going to studios and using gear where I met Behzad & Amarou from Concrete and I rented a studio with them so they took me to the analog world.

If you were not making music what would you do?

It would probably be in a kitchen or something because I love food and, and wine and basically and it's and you still have the pleasure of creating and composing something.

If you could spend a day in the studio with one of your heroes, who would it be?

It would probably be Saint Germain to see his mixing process how he chooses in the position of the kick and the bass and which element is more important because in his tracks there is a weird way of mixing sounds which makes his sound kind of unique.

What is your secret weapon ?

The synth I use the most is my Prophet Rev2 not really the presets more to build sounds from scratch because it has an amazing sound amazing oscillators and it's very versatile.

Any special object you can't live without ?

Definitely the mixer any type of mixer. Right now we have a Midas Venice 320 which is an amazing mixer an amazing sound So it's mostly the center of the studio.

Any ritual before creating music?

I usually like to put some put on some dim light in the studio and probably light up a little spliff before I start making music.

What was your worst / funniest performance experience?

If it's live it's always a bad experience because I don’t really enjoy it I just enjoy it afterwards when everything went fine. But the process is quite stressful, so it's always a difficult thing to do.

What would you say to your younger self?

Don’t worry things are going to be fine and just enjoy making music. That's all that matters.
